The district of Aucallama, in Huaral, northern Peru, is home to the world’s narrowest fully-functional house.
Little, minimalist houses have been around for many years, and on modern times the demand for smaller living spaces has been increasing.
However, the world’s narrowest house really takes things to another level and, despite It’s designed to offer all the amenities of a modern home, its space is only 63 centimetres wide!
Designed and owned by local man Fabio Moreno, the slim house aims to convey the idea that happiness doesn’t depend on the size of your home, but rather on making the most of the space you have available. That’s a lovely sentiment, even if most people would probably prefer enough room to get dressed without becoming a contortionist!
Its narrow frame and bright colors have already attracted thousands of visitors and, although it might seem like just an outdoor art installation, the world’s narrowest house has most of the bells and whistles of a modern home, including a bathroom, kitchen, dining room, hallway, bedroom, study, laundry area, as well as two staircases connecting its two levels.
Located right across the main square of Aucallama, it can be visited by curious passers-by but, as you can image, the narrow space makes it very difficult for two or more people to check out its interior, due to its size.
Fabio Moreno has already sent his application to Guinness World Records for the title of ‘world’s narrowest house,’ but it might take a little while to receive the confirmation.
Guinness currently lists Warsaw’s Keret House as the narrowest house in the world, measuring 92 cm at its narrowest point and 152 cm at its widest, and notes that records can change before updates appear online, and verification still requires official documentation.
However, its creator is confident about taking the world record. However, its creator is confident about taking the world record.
